Have you ever had a stressful thought regarding an event or unpleasant exchange with a co-worker, friend or family member, and the dis-ease you feel is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning, it colors your day, and it’s the last thing you think of before you retire? I have a name for that thought. It’s your BOSS. It consumes and controls you. As you begin to enhance the reality of what actually happened, the horror show that goes on in your head grows causing an increase in your stress level. As Byron Katie says, “don’t believe everything you think.” Examine your thoughts around the circumstance causing the pain and do some self analysis. Get real. Focus on the reality of the event and learn to question the stories you make up regarding the event. You’ll find that reality is enough.
